luca has set itself the goal of digitizing processes along the entire customer journey in restaurants — from reservation and ordering to payment and back office management for restaurants. As of today, another milestone has been reached on this path: Online reservations with luca start early access, and restaurateurs can now register for use. With the new function, luca addresses a central problem: making reservation management efficient.
Table reservations provide planning security for restaurants and their guests. What works in theory often looks different in reality: For guests, reserving a table usually means calling repeatedly, while restaurateurs must plan additional resources to manage reservations. With luca, restaurateurs digitize and bundle reservation processes, thus optimizing their table occupancy and increasing occupancy. The fact that guests can easily make and cancel their reservations in the app also minimizes the risk of a no-show despite a reservation, so-called no-shows. The latter have become a major challenge in the catering industry. According to one Survey by the industry association Dehoga NRW Over 90 percent of restaurateurs are affected by the consequences of non-appearance guests. Tables remain empty and personnel planning and grocery shopping are made more difficult, resulting in significant sales losses. In order to counter no-shows, restaurateurs can decide to charge Luca for spontaneous no-shows.
Once activated, restaurateurs can use the new reservation function directly in their luca location dashboard and integrate a reservation form into their own website. In the current early bird phase, they also benefit from free use until the end of the year. For guests, the reservation function is easily accessible via the app and is directly linked to searching for and finding LUCA restaurants.
Like all Luca functions, reservations were developed together with restaurateurs. Some Berlin restaurants are already using the function successfully and, with their feedback, have significantly influenced the development of Luca's solution.
“We know exactly where things are hurting in the catering industry, because we exchange ideas intensively with restaurateurs. Like all LUCA features, be it the payment function or the cross-restaurant loyalty point system, we have also developed the reservation function according to your wishes,” says Patrick Hennig, CEO of luca. “I'm pleased that our online reservations for the restaurants that already use them are a real game changer. But that is just the beginning. We will continue to expand our GASTROTECH offering and further digitalize the catering industry. ”
Luca Reservations will be continuously developed over the coming months. A virtual waiting list should enable fully booked restaurants to make up for any cancellations. An integrated CRM system is also being planned, which will allow guests to share their culinary preferences and any dietary restrictions. This allows restaurateurs to contact their guests directly and digitally for the first time and plan much better in advance for an evening, for example in purchasing management. Guests, in turn, benefit from a much more personal and seamless dining experience.
