luca takes over the two gastronomic apps DIDIT and DiscoEat and thus deepens its existing GastroTech offering. DIDIT is a QR code-based payment app. Through their partner app DiscoEat, guests can find participating restaurants and make reservations or orders directly via the app. With the takeover, luca is taking another step to drive the strategic growth of the app: By the end of the year, luca wants to integrate new functions into the system, expand the existing restaurant network in Berlin and Munich, and launch it in additional cities.
DIDIT allows users to easily pay with their smartphone. The option to connect to additional POS systems thus complements Luca's payment function. With DiscoEat, restaurateurs can offer discounts in the app outside peak hours and thus make better use of their tables. Both expand Luca's existing range of products and contribute to the goal of making gastronomy smarter and more digital and therefore more sustainable — from the search for restaurants to local orders and back office solutions. DIDIT and DiscoEat users will be able to continue using the two apps as usual in the coming weeks. They are then gradually integrated into the LUCA system.
“We are delighted to welcome DIDIT and DiscoEat to the LUCA family. Together with our partners in the catering industry, we are continuing to work to provide restaurateurs with digital tools that help them work more efficiently and fill up their shop,” says Patrick Hennig, CEO and founder of luca. “We want to connect restaurateurs and their guests more closely and thus bring restaurateurs on equal footing with major tech companies. In this way, we are helping them to become winners of digitization.”
“The LUCA team has proven that they speak the same language as restaurateurs, know their needs very well and can translate exactly these needs into technological solutions for a wide range of applications,” says Moritz Heininger, founder of DIDIT and DiscoEat. “If you really want to achieve something in the GastroTech sector, luca's implementation power is the best choice. We are therefore very happy that DIDIT and DiscoEat have found a new home with Patrick and the entire leadership team, who are advancing their vision of a smarter and more digital catering industry with a clear plan,” adds Nicolò Luti, co-founder.
A year ago, Luca launched the first GastroTech feature luca Pay, which allows users to pay their bill quickly and easily using QR codes. Annoying waiting times for service personnel and guests are eliminated and hardware such as a credit card reader is superfluous. With Luca's cross-restaurant loyalty points system, guests collect points with every payment, which they can redeem at all LUCA restaurants. luca's reservation function allows guests to make reservations directly via the app. Reservations made in the app can also be canceled again. As a result, so-called no-shows are reduced, restaurateurs can make better use of their tables and, as a result, benefit from higher sales.
